I bought the first Alerse mat for evening yoga and stretching in our master bedroom. We have a large braided coil rug and it has a lot of “give” and with a thinner yoga mat you feel the give and it can affect your balance. The Alerse mat solved that problem.
I love the thickness, I’ve never cared much for thinner mats, I’m 6’2” 200 lbs and doing planks, aggressive stretching routines, ab work, they have too much give. My wife is 4’8” maybe 100lbs and she never had issues but she noticed a big difference of the Alerse mat. It’s a great mat!
I spent a lot of time researching mats before purchasing an alerse. Rafael was extremely helpful and quick to respond. I have a few Manduka mats and wanted thicker and cushioning. Very pleased with the black mat choice so far. Feels great on my feet. Def has a unique cushion feel. Very good looking too as it’s slightly matte. Would recommend. It may be a bit lacking in grip for some types of yoga. I can’t speak to performance in hot classes as I refrain from them.
The new mat is wonderfully cushy, without interfering with balance. The size is perfect for me, with a bit of extra room for an item or two that I wouldn’t want stepped on by another yogi. It is not as sweat absorbent as another mat might be, dries easily on a rack overnight between heated yoga classes. We’ve bonded!
Haven’t used it for yoga have only used it to sleep on the floor during my Nyungne practice. Comfortable!
I love my Alerse Matt!!!! There are many yoga poses that require being on your knees. These have always been painful to me but not with my new Alerse Matt!!! It has allowed me to deepen my practice. I can concentrate on breathing instead of my knee pain!!! I also love that I do not need to worry about any chemicals affecting my hormones because there are none!!! So happy and recommending it to everyone. Yoga luxury!!!
